My association with the company goes back over twenty years and I continue to look for advice because the staff have proved themselves over the longterm. In the early days our priority was to look after our children as they grew and prepared for university.

With little cash to spare for savings and investment, we were still treated as valued and respected clients. As our circumstances changed we could look to securing a guaranteed lifestyle for our retirement. What has been impressive is the way that our changing circumstances have been recognised by the company rather than by me saying 'shouldn't I be doing something about ----?'. In reality I have been able to retire at the age of 56 even though I was never a high earner. The capital growth of our investments has transformed our life now and means a very comfortable retirement. At no stage was I given a promise of unrealistic returns -the advice was appropriate to our needs, tempered with realistic forecasts of growth and the importance of focusing on long term objectives. When bad times occured they did not come as a surprise, we stayed 'invested' adjusted the level of risk, and benefited when markets improved again.

The service is always friendly, efficient and personal. When I ring up I am known to the staff and this makes for a very close and meaningful relationship. Paperwork is full and transparent. I am never pushed to sign any documents, and applications for new products are never completed until the staff are happy that we understand the product details. The charges are also made clear as are any fees, so the partnership is one of trust and openness. I am happy to pay the correct amount of taxation which is due on my investments and have always found an insistence on honesty and responsibility from my advisers.

When I needed other financial advice it is either available in-house or by links to specialists. In this way we have been able to plan for inheritance tax at an early stage.

I have recommended Wealth and Tax Management to colleagues and remain happy to do so on the understanding that they are intelligent adults who will make up their own minds on the advice which they receive and be responsible for the decisions made on the information given.

I have used the financial services offered by Tony Byrne since I became self-employed in January 1989. In those early days, before Tony started his own companies, he gave me valuable and sound financial advice regarding my business accounts, income tax, vat and family financial planning which included income protection, health insurance, inheritance tax, personal pensions and investments.

At this time I was living in South Northants with my wife and two teenage daughters which meant that important face to face meetings were easy to arrange. In every instance these meetings were conducted with an extremely positive tone. Tony was always well prepared with data and suggestions that were focused to my needs. If, however, I did not wish to pursue a particular suggestion this was always respected by Tony and although he may have re-introduced a topic at a later meeting he never applied any pressure if I said no. Tony has always respected the views and decisions of both my wife and me.

As my business continued and the years passed my personal circumstances inevitably changed. These changes have been both anticipated and reflected in the advice Tony has offered and my wife and I are still totally satisfied with the completeness of the service Tony provides for us. We now have annual reviews for which detailed preparation is always completed by his excellent team in the office. In 2002 we moved from South Northants to near Plymouth in South Devon and saw no reason not to continue using the services of Byrne Williams and Wealth & Tax Management. Our decision has been proven correct, the service we continue to receive is undiminished in its quality and technology has enabled direct and immediate communication between us and the excellent, knowledgeable and very professional team in his offices.
