Tony Byrne was born in London in 1958 and lived there until 1985. He moved to Milton Keynes and then 2 years later to Olney in Buckinghamshire where he lived until 2005.  He now lives in Roade in Northamptonshire.  He has always had an interest in communications and financial matters.  He obtained A levels in English, French and German at school.  After a career as an accountant from 1981 to 1990 he formed his own financial services company and specialised in personal financial planning and tax planning for individuals.  He has obtained the highest qualification in financial planning in the UK as a Certified Financial Planner and Fellow of The Institute of Financial Planning.  He is one of only 300 people in the UK today to hold this qualification.

Tony is Financial Planning Director, founder and now co-owner of Wealth And Tax Management which employs 7 people and is based on the outskirts of Milton Keynes near a small village called Beachampton.  The company specialises in wealth management and estate planning for individuals aged 55+.

Tony was Chairman of the Northern Home Counties branch of the Institute of Financial Planning for 3 years and also Chairman of the North Bucks branch of The Federation of Small Businesses for 2 years.

Tony is separated from his wife and has 3 children from the marriage. In his spare time he enjoys distance running, Salsa dancing and practising the martial art Aikido.  He also writes a regular column for Money Marketing called Independent View.

Tony has been disillusioned with UK politics for many years. He thinks that if the country is continued to be run the same way over the next 10-20 years, with most of our laws being set by the EU, this will inevitably lead to economic decline and bleak financial prospects for future generations including his own children.  He is also frustrated with political correctness.  He considers that people’s personal liberties are under threat under the current New Labour government including the increasing inability for people to exercise freedom of speech.  He considers that both indirect and direct taxes have become oppressive and that the waste of public revenues by the government is outrageous.

Having studied the Veritas Party’s Core Values, Tony found that this was the first party he had come across with such a refreshingly honest approach and common sense attitude that he decided to join it.  In June 2006 he was appointed Treasury Spokesman for the party.
