The Wealth Pyramid Strategy™

The investment strategy we use is called The Wealth Pyramid Strategy™ and is based on the work of Harry Markowitz who won the Nobel Prize for economics in 1990, for developing his “modern portfolio theory” over a period of more than 30 years.

The Markowitz model is a systematic technique for building an investment portfolio and adjusting it over time to ensure it meets the required objectives. It does not attempt to time the markets, and so is not affected by short-term fluctuations in investments.

The model develops a portfolio, based upon sound asset allocation rules, and then invests into individual investments that meet the allocation requirements. The Wealth Pyramid Strategy™ is successful because it works on the understanding that successful investing is 90% asset allocation and 10% investment choice. Too many people focus solely on investment choice, when asset allocation is the prime factor in successful long-term financial plans. In addition, we use a sound system for selection of investments into the model to ensure that emotion is removed from the selection process.

The pyramid illustrated above shows how we typically divide clients assets into low risk, medium risk and high risk groups. The asset allocation shown above is typical of a ‘medium risk’ investor, however the asset allocation will not always look like this as our The Wealth Pyramid Strategy™ means that each clients investments are divided according to their wishes and their own individual risk profile, ensuring they never have more invested in any given risk group than they are comfortable with.
